James Richard Easton

James R. Easton, 76, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 25, 1949 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Earl R. Easton and Zola (Ross) Easton.

A lifelong resident of Northern Indiana, James moved to La Porte in 1971 after serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. On March 4, 1972, he married the love of his life, Vicki Bridges, and together they raised two sons and had many adventures together over the years. James was a self-employed project manager consultant for CET in the steel mill industry, retiring in December of 2024. He enjoyed the great outdoors, and in his spare time one might see him camping in his RV, throwing his line in for some relaxing fishing time, or deer hunting. He also had a large garden and would can and preserve all of his wonderful vegetables. He loved to travel, with Hawaii being one of his and Vicki's favorite destinations, and he went there many times. Aloha, James.

Along with his wife of 53 years, James is survived by his two sons, Sean Easton of La Porte, IN, James (Melissa) Easton Jr. of Detroit; three brothers, Earl R. (Linda) Easton Jr. of TX, Al (Marti) Easton of La Porte, Daniel (Vickie) Easton of La Porte; sister, Zola Montana of TX; three grandchildren, Alexander (Haley) Easton, Kaylynn Easton, Devin Easton; great-grandchild, Violet and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Kathrine Easton and great-grandchild, Samantha.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN, where the family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
