Mr. James Marcus Spencer, 54, of LaPorte, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at 1:45 a.m. at La Porte Hospital. He was born Nov. 12, 1952, in Guage, Ky., to Elbert and Opsie Fugate Spencer Sr., and had lived here for 35 years coming from Kentucky. Mr. Spencer was a supervisor for A&A Sheet Metal. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved nature, the outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends. On June 14, 1975, in La Porte, he married Debbie Lawrence, who survives. Also surviving are his parents, of Jackson, Ky.; one daughter, Lisa Jason Mackowiak of Rolling Prairie; one son, Mike of La Porte; two sisters, Mary Dishman of Kenova, W.Va., and Doshia Kilborn of Clahow, Ky.; three brothers, Elbert Jr., Roger and Ralph, all of Jackson; his grandmother, Doshia Fugate of Jackson; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, La Porte, with Rev. Ernie Melton officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service.
