James Woday

Mr. James C. Woday, 62, of 338 N. Lilac Drive, Walkerton Fish Lake, IN., passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, at his residence. He lived in the LaPorte area most of his life, except he lived in Michigan from 1978-1994. He was born on October 12, 1941, in Chicago, IL, to Casimir and Gertrude Witt Woday. Mr. Woday worked for Northland Evergreen Nursery as Vice President and general manager. He also taught history and coached basketball, baseball and track. He earned a bachelor degree at Indiana State University, with credits towards his masters degree in pre-law at Valparaiso University. Mr. Woday was a member of Duck?s Unlimited, Son?s of American Legion, and board member of Fish Lake Property Owner?s Association, Stillwell Rod & Gun Club, and Moose Lodge. He was an avid fisherman, waterfowl hunter and loved the outdoors?. On June 22, 1963, in LaPorte, IN., he married Nancy Sawyer, who survives. Mr. Woday is survived by his wife Nancy, one daughter; Lisa Woday of Grand Rapids, MI, two sons; David Cari Woday of Grand Haven, MI, Michael Woday of LaPorte, IN, one brother; Thomas Anne Hart of San Diego, CA, six grandchildren; Shelby, Cayci, Tessa, Sawyer, Rilee and Rennie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother John Hart. A funeral service will be held Thursday May 20, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Haverstock Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Cornette officiating. Friends may call at Haverstock Funeral Home on Wednesday May 19, 2004 from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, and 8:00 AM Thursday until the time of the service. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.
