Janet E. Winkle, a devoted mother and grandmother, died on August 1, 2025, at Northwest Health in La Porte. Born on August 8, 1950, in Muskegon, Michigan, she leaves behind a legacy of love, caring, and cherished memories.
Janet's life was one rich with purpose. A high school graduate, she dedicated herself to nurturing not only her family but also the elderly in her community, particularly during her time in New York at local senior centers. Her kindness and compassion were evident to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Known for her culinary talents, Janet took great joy in cooking and often brought family and friends together around the dining table, creating lasting bonds over home-cooked meals.
Janet shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Larry Winkle, whom she married on September 19, 1970, in Muskegon, Michigan. Together they created a loving home filled with laughter and adventure. Janet cherished the moments spent with her family in Muskegon, often engaging in camping, fishing, and boating. Her affection for nature was matched only by her love for shopping, a pastime she indulged in with great enthusiasm.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; her son Adam (Rachelle) Winkle; her daughter Lauri Winkle; and her grandson Jonathan Winkle. Janet is also mourned by her brother Steven (Jill) Moran. The warmth of her spirit will be deeply missed by her family, who take comfort in the many memories of love and joy that she provided throughout her life.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Ovid and Charlotte Moran; her son Eric Winkle; and her siblings, Lonn Moran and Sandra Bosset. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart, and their memories continue to resonate within her family.
In this time of mourning, Janet's family remembers her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to her loved ones, ensuring the values she embodied will be passed down through generations.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on August 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Haverstock Funeral Home Inc, located at 602 Maple Ave in La Porte, Indiana. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, concluding with a burial at Pine Lake Cemetery.
