Jason Karl Diaz, born October 9, 1971, passed away on March 3, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by love, laughter, and a spirit that could never be contained. Jason moved through the world as a true free spirit — someone whose humor, loyalty, and quiet devotion to the people and animals he loved made even the most ordinary days feel brighter.
He is survived by his beloved soulmate and best friend, Kim, with whom he shared a rare and extraordinary bond. Their story began in an unlikely place — at Casey’s, where Kim first hired and trained him. What began as simple teamwork soon grew into trust, companionship, and ultimately a deep and enduring love that shaped both of their lives. In a moment that reflected both his romantic heart and playful spirit, Jason proposed during the Sunset Hill Winter Lights Festival, dropping to one knee beneath a glowing arch of lights. Later, in a private ceremony, the two exchanged rings and vows, promising one another a lifetime built on loyalty, laughter, and devotion — for better or worse, in sickness and in health.
Music was the soundtrack to Jason’s life and soul. He fondly remembered his first concert, seeing Nazareth, a moment that sparked a lifelong love of live music. He admired the artistry of guitar legends like Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, and he never lost his appreciation for the powerful pulse of Metallica. Sundays held a special place in his routine — a time for the Blues, for the legends whose music spoke straight to the bones.
Jason loved fiercely and without hesitation. Rarely did a day pass when he didn’t tell Kim and his son, Kyle Diaz, “I love you” again and again until they laughed and teased that he was driving them crazy. He would call out “Baby, baby, baby,” and when Kim answered, he would simply smile and say, “I love you.” That was Jason’s way — love spoken freely and often, filling every room he entered and leaving no one to question how deeply they mattered to him.
His devotion to his son, Kyle, was one of the defining forces of his life. Kyle sees the world in his own unique way, and Jason’s greatest wish was always that his son be safe, supported, protected, and deeply loved. He worried for him, advocated for him, and stood fiercely beside him with a father’s unwavering heart.
Jason also leaves behind his faithful companion, Spirit, his beloved 16-year-old dog who remained loyally by his side through every chapter of life.
Those who knew Jason will remember the way he loved — loudly, relentlessly, and with a mischievous warmth that made people smile. He was tender and funny, protective and devoted, and he carried an instinct to shield the people he loved with everything he had. His kindness, laughter, and generous spirit touched many lives, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Jason’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him, in the music that moved him, and in the countless quiet moments he made brighter simply by being himself.
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
