Jeanette Varda

Mrs. Jeanette Varda, 69, of 1281 W. CR 650 N., LaPorte, passed away Monday March 29, 2004 at LaPorte Hospital, in LaPorte, Indiana. She had lived here for 37 years coming from Gary, Indiana. She was born on October 3, 1934, in Gary, Indiana, to Claude and Josephine Urbanic Klasner On October 27, 1956, in Gary, Indiana, she married Slobodan Varda who preceded in death in 1997. Mrs. Varda had worked as a secretary for U.S. Steel for many years and was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church. Surviving are two sons; Donald Diane Varda and Luke Varda, both of LaPorte, one daughter; Nancy Andrew Garliai of Chadon, Ohio, one brother; Claude Butch Marliyn Klasner of Hebron, Indiana, three sisters; Collene Curtis Moon of Florida, Margie Charles Kidd of Punta Gorda, Florida, Pat Charles Harding of Paris, Tennessee, and five grandchildren. Also preceding in death were her parents, one sister; Mary Lou O?Conner and one brother; Bud Klasner. Services for Mrs. Jeanette Varda will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday April 1, 2004 at the St Sava Serbian Orthodax Church, 9191 Mississippi St. Merrillville, Indiana, with the Very Reverend Father Jovan Todorovich. Friends may call Wednesday March 31, 2004, from 4-8 p.m. at the Haverstock Funeral Home. An Omen Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral Home. Burial will be in the Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to donor?s choice.
