John Timothy Angelos

May 15, 1952 — May 18, 2026

LaPorte

Lifelong La Porte resident John Timothy Angelos passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, with his family by his side, after a battle with cancer and related health complications.

John is survived by his wife, Susan Angelos (Lies); his daughter, Kristin (Drew) Henseleit; his son, Andy (Lindsay) Angelos; three granddaughters Addison, Kaitlyn, and Amelia; his sisters, Cindy (Dain) Crawford and Connie Kuzydym; and an expansive extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Angelos, in 2021, his father, Timothy Angelos, in 1992, and his brother-in-law, Allan Kuzydym, in 2004.

John was born on May 15, 1952, to Maria Angelos. Around the time of John’s birth, Maria emigrated from Doliana, Greece, to the United States, where she and her husband Timothy Angelos lived on a family farm in Rolling Prairie, Indiana. There, they welcomed John’s sisters, Cindy and Connie, before moving to La Porte.

John’s life in La Porte was defined by quiet, relentless service to his family, friends, clients, and community. Rooted in his accounting acumen and unparalleled work ethic, he preferred action over words. Through his Certified Public Accounting firm, Angelos & Rardin, as a member of La Porte Jaycees, and his involvement with the La Porte Chamber of Commerce, John supported hundreds of small business owners throughout the region. In 1994, he was honored for his work with the prestigious Small Business Advocate of the Year award.

To family and friends, John’s support went far beyond tax returns and balance sheets. Known familiarly as Yianni, John-Boy, Uncle John, or the Bear, he helped his community grow a number of successful small businesses that contributed to La Porte’s economy. He supported local institutions connected to the family and later helped launch his son’s business ventures.

When he managed to step away from his calculators and, eventually, his spreadsheets, John was often found at BJ’s or Louie’s enjoying coffee with his wife and friends. On weekends, he cheered his Purdue Boilermakers from the stands at Ross-Ade Stadium, helped his wife with gardening projects, visited with his daughter and grandchildren, and jammed to classic rock with close friends. He shared his love of music with friends and family through off-key singing, playing his bass guitar, and attending concerts by his favorite musicians, including Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, and other living legends who visited the area.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. CST, Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana with Father John Tsikalas officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte. A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. CST, Wednesday, May 27, 2026 and from 10 a.m. CST until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. May John’s memory be eternal.
