June Zila

Mrs. June M. Zila, 86, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of La Porte, died Thursday, March 29, 2007, in Tulsa. She was born on Aug. 4, 1920, in Three Rivers, Mich., to Paul Lester and Mildred Irene Grimes Kennedy. Mrs. Zila worked as a nursing aid and moved to Tulsa in the late 1970s. She was affiliated with the Christian Church in Tulsa and served in officer positions in the tenant associations in the apartment buildings where she lived. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, family gatherings, helping other people, playing cards, and watching her grandson?s soccer games. In the early 1940s in La Porte, she was married to James Zila, who died in 1984. Mrs. Zila was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son, James Anton Zila. Surviving are a daughter, Connie Williamson of Tulsa, Okla.; a grandchild, Derek Leslie Williamson; one great grandchild; and a sister, Mildred Bergfeld, of Rotonda West, Fla. The graveside funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Swan Lake Memorial Garden, Michigan City, with Rev. Rick Abbott officiating.
