Michigan City. IN

Koosje "Tosy" Marshall, a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister, departed from this world on November 20, 2025, in Rittenhouse-Michigan City. Born on May 1, 1926, in Gouda, Holland, Tosy carried the essence of her homeland with grace throughout her life. She was a woman of great tenacity, whose journey took her from the quaint streets of Gouda to the shores of the United States, where she made a profound impact on all who knew her.

Tosy’s education began in the Netherlands, culminating in her graduation from high school, where the seeds of her remarkable character were sown. Her love for life was palpable, illuminating the lives of those around her. While attending to her work as a clerical clerk for a La Porte manufacturer, she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her responsibilities and a genuine warmth to her colleagues. It was during her tenure with the USO that she first encountered her beloved husband, Melvin Marshall, a union that marked the beginning of a beautiful chapter filled with love and companionship.

A devoted mother, Tosy is survived by her son, James Marshall, and her daughter, Audrey (Lonnie) Evans, who carry forward the legacy of her kind spirit and unwavering love. As a proud grandmother, she took immense joy in the lives of her granddaughters, Debra Branum, and grandson, William Bradshaw, who were the light of her later years. Tosy also shared a deep bond with her sister, Adriana Verkuil, an enduring connection that transcended the challenges of time and distance.

Tosy's passions were as vibrant as the tulips she adored; she found solace and joy attending church services and treasured moments spent with family. Her laughter and zest for life were infectious, inspiring those fortunate enough to be in her presence. She not only cherished family gatherings but also brought a sense of unity and love wherever she ventured.

Tosy joins her beloved husband, Melvin, in eternal rest, alongside her parents, Jan van Gemeren and Janetje (van der Sluis) van Gemeren, and her brother, Maurits van Gemeren, all of whom preceded her. The bonds of love she created in life will forever echo in the hearts of her family, resonating with cherished memories and unwavering affection.
