March 1, 1936-May 2, 2025
Lael Cyr, a cherished matriarch, was born on March 1, 1936, in La Porte, Indiana. She departed this life peacefully at her home on May 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Lael leaves a legacy of love, compassion, and devotion that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lael enjoyed a fulfilling career, dedicating many years to her work as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), where she showcased her natural instinct for care and nurturing. Her commitment to her profession was exemplified by the way she took care of everyone around her, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Family was at the center of Lael’s universe. The holidays were particularly significant to her, with Christmas being her favorite time of year, filled with warmth and togetherness. Each Easter, she would generously host a large breakfast for her family, creating memories that would be cherished for years to come. Most notably, Lael took great joy in sharing pictures of her family, especially those of her beloved great-grandmother, Bertha Piper.
Lael held a deep affection for her dogs, Gizmo, Snoopy, Jigs, Molly, Lady, and Malady each of whom brought her joy and companionship. In addition to her nurturing demeanor, Lael was a person of diverse interests and hobbies. She had a passion for the great outdoors, enjoying tent camping and later upgrading to a pop-up camper. Lael relished hiking, having trekked into the basin of the Grand Canyon and explored parts of Mexico. An avid reader, she often lost herself in mystery novels and Sunday comics, finding delight in the written word.
She is survived by her beloved family: son Michael Bush; daughter Brenda (Paul Fredenburg) Mannia; grandchildren David (Karly) Mannia, Caleb Randolph, Amber Randolph, Valerie Mannia, and Brandon (Stephanie) Randolph; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren Austin, Emma, Ryleigh, Logan, Andrew, Jackson, Bryson, Kendall, and Levi.
Lael was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Kathryn Piper, and her daughter Shelley (Charlie) Randolph, as well as a former husband Marion Wayne Bush.
