Leila Morris

Mrs. Leila B. ?Lee? Morris, 87, of La Porte, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at 2:20 p.m. at her home. She was born July 25, 1919, in New Mexico to James Lee and Mary Bessie Kitchell Anderson, and had lived in the La Porte area all her life. Mrs. Morris was retired after working as a welder and assembly line worker at American Rubber. She had also worked at Rose and Ed?s Restaurant and Bastian Morley. She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary and PRCU. Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Donald Sr. Sawyer of La Porte; five grandchildren, Kendra Hogan, Douglas Ainsworth, Joanna Green, Jennifer Lopez and Donald Sawyer Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, two brothers, and one great-granddaughter. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, La Porte, with Rev. Jonathan Rose officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery, La Porte.
