Lloyd M. Thorndyke February 13, 1933-April 23, 2018 Mr.Lloyd M. Thorndyke, 85, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday April 23, 2018 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born February 13, 1933 in Cullom, Illinois, the son of Ralph Thorndyke and Ethel (Wright) Thorndyke. Lloyd was a truck driver for 48 years driving for Tucker Freight Lines and Great American. He was a veteran of the US Navy during the Koreon war and a member of the American Leagon of Kingsford Heights. He was a former Chief of the Springfield Vol. Fire Department, a former board member of the Springville Cemetery Assoc., past memeber of the Maple City Motorcycle Club, was involved in the 4H Horse and Pony Club and he loved watching NASCAR. He loved Minnie deeply and loved having his family near him. On April 11, 1953, in Farmer City, IL, he married Minnie Shoffner Thorndyke who survives. He is also survived by his two daughters, Lisa (Mike) McKee of Elkhart, IN, Tammy (Chad) Feehan of Bradner, OH; two sons, Gary (Debbie) Thorndyke of La Porte, IN, Cary (Cindy) Thorndyke of La Porte, IN; twelve Grandchildren, Kryssy, Jayme, Kayci, Brytni, Jason, Shelby, Ricky, Bobby, Ryan, Brandy, Madison, Andrew; seventeen great grandchildren, ; three brothers, Merlin Thorndyke of Eureka, IL, Daryle Thorndyke of Saybrook, IL, Bill Thorndyke of Monroe City, MO; sister, Darlene Maxwell of Eureka, IL; sister-in-law, Clara Fee of Hamlet, IN; Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and two brother, Eldon and Norman Thorndyke. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, April 26, 2018, 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Friday, April 27, 2018, 10:00 am until time of the service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday April 27, 2018 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
