Mrs. Lucille E. Zellmer, 85, of LaPorte, IN. died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at 4:50 a.m. at her home. She was born August 14, 1918 in LaPorte Co., near Hamlet to Chester and Ethel Thomas Snider, and has lived most of her life in LaPorte County. Mrs. Zellmer was retired from the Bendix Corp. in 1984 after 25 years of service. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Circle #7 of the Church, Senior Group of the Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Bendix Retires Club, Aux. member of the Civilian Conservation Club, Genealogy Society, Swanson Center Senior Club, and a volunteer of the LaPorte County Museum and the LaPorte Hospital. On July 23, 1972 in Elkhart, IN. she married Norman Zellmer, who died Jan. 15, 1992. Also preceded in death are her parents; two sisters, Elvira Frances Snider and Helen Virginia Snider; one step grandson, Charles William Schlundt. Surviving are one daughter, Judy Denny Thomas of LaPorte; one son, Truman Lois Helt of LaPorte; four grandchildren, Pam Earl Bush of Texas, Jackie Brian Richardson of LaPorte, Kelly Jim Sims of Union Mills, Jody Patti Thomas of Ft. Wayne, IN.; two step granddaughters, Judy Tom Cunningham of Union Mills, Pat Cornwell of Florida; eight great grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Eric Bidack of South Bend, IN., Mallorie Rose Smith of LaPorte, Alicia Marie Bush of Texas, Demi Lee Thomas, Emily Ann Thomas, Trevor John Thomas all of Ft. Wayne, Brock Michael Smith of LaPorte, Joshua Ryan Sims of Union Mills; three step-great grandchildren, Brittany Jason Shadt of Michigan City, Stephanie Christenson of Florida, Michael Earl Sims, Kyle Richardson both of LaPorte, Dylan Schlundt of Union Mills; one great great granddaughter, Emma Lee Bidack of South Bend; and one step-great great granddaughter, Chloe Shadt of Michigan City. We may not tell you very often how much we love you, but with every passing year we realize more and more how much you mean to us. We remember and cherish to us all our together times and words cannot say how fortunate we feel to have you. The funeral will be Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. David Young officiating. Friends may call Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, IN. It?s wonderful to be the one?s who known the blessing of your thoughtfulness and tenderness, you kindness and your love.
