Lucinda King, born on August 29, 1951, La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 10,2024, at her son’s home, surrounded by her beloved family. She was a cherished member of the La Porte community and a devoted family woman whose life was marked by hard work and heartfelt connections.
Throughout her career, Lucinda was known for her strong work ethic, beginning in manufacturing at American Rubber of La Porte, where she dedicated many years of her life, displaying her tenacity and commitment. In her later years, she took on the role of a paper delivery person for the Herald-Argus, continuing her legacy of serving others in her community.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Lucinda was a person of many passions and interests. Together with her husband, Bill, she enjoyed square dancing, a pastime they cherished and participated in at numerous events throughout the years. Lucinda also had a delightful collection of chicken and rooster figurines, reflecting her whimsical spirit and her appreciation for the charm found in unique treasures.
As a prominent member of the Purdue Homemakers Extension, Lucinda was deeply involved in her community. Her dedication to this organization saw her rise to the position of President, where she represented and inspired others, participating in conventions and fostering connections among her peers.
Lucinda leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her sister, Sherry Riehle; her sons, Bryan Adams, William H. King Jr., and Richard (Rick) Misty Lovelace King; grandchildren Blaise, Jordan Fetters, Nicholas, Stephanie, Cheyanne, William H. King III, and Kaleb King; Adelyn, Raelyn, Ariella, and Peyton Kubasyk. She is also survived by her nephew Michael (Amy) Riehle; grandchildren Peyton Riehle, Zoe, Austin (Kristi); and niece Shelby Riehle, along with other family members including great-grandchildren Lorraine, Kinleigh, Audrey, Romero, and Ryders.
Lucinda was preceded in death by her husband, William King Sr., her parents Raymond and Marquerite Wood, daughter Mary Crayton; and her granddaughter Nadege Lovelace.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends A Celebration of Life in honor of Lucinda will take place on October 6, 2024, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2439 190 McClung Road in La Porte, Indiana. The memorial gathering will begin at 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, allowing friends and family to gather in remembrance and celebration of a remarkable woman whose legacy will continue through those she loved. Cremation has taken place.
