Marcia A. Coleman June 8, 1948-March 15, 2017 Mrs. Marcia A. Coleman , 68, of La Porte, Indiana, formerly of Kingsford Heights, IN. passed away Wednesday March 15, 2017 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte, IN. She was born June 8, 1948 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Ira Atkinson and Callie (Hahn) Atkinson. Marcia worked at American Home Foods, McGill Corp. and Howmet Corp before her retirement. She was a member of PACA (People Against Child Abuse), and a member of a Women's Billards Team. She was a graduate of Maryvale High School. Marcia coached little girls softball and played softball for American Home Foods Team. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, motorcycles,carpentry and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In Kingsbury, IN, she married Jason Coleman who preceded her in death December 9, 1979. She is survived by her son, George Eddie (Deanna) Lawson; daughter, Sandra Denise Lawson;7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ron (Alicia) Atkinson, Richard Atkinson, Joe Atkinson; and a sister, Susan Atkinson. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Issiac Atkinson, brother, Ted Atkinson, and her partner, Karen Okrszesik. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN . A private family celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc.,with Ron Atkinson officiating. Interment will be at the Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, Indiana.
