Marilyn A. Austin July 8, 1961-June 21, 2019 Marilyn Ann Austin was born July 8, 1961 in a small town called Parma, Missouri, to Alex Jr. and Delzine Austin. The Austin family moved to La Porte in 1967. Marilyn graduated from La Porte High School in 1980, later she graduated from the Beauty College of Michigan City, IN in 1994. Marilyn had a passion for styling hair and would do her own, and family members hair. She even worked at one of beauty salons with Lavon Taylor in Michigan City, IN. Another thing she enjoyed was learning about nutrition, visiting the local health food store. Marilyn received salvation and the Holy Spirit in 1985 at the home of Mother Mary Johnson. The entire Austin family became members of New Jerusalem, C.O.G.I.C. As time past Marilyn joined the Christian Fellowship Center Church, Pastors LaShawn and Jennifer O'Neal. Marilyn worked at Foam X for 10 yrs., and T.P. Ortho for 15 yrs. The first of three children. While her mother worked Marilyn would wrap her tiny fingers in the hem of her mother's dress. That created a great bond that grew over the years as best friends, shopping, and cooking, and going to movies, including her son Darnell Austin and sister Brenda L. Woodard. As their chauffer, her wonderful son Darnell would take Marilyn anywhere she wanted to go; Michigan City, South Bend, her favorite was Chicago to Navy Pier. Darnell remained dedicated to his mother everyday through her sickness, running errands, getting her meals and snacks. Even in their conversations there was a tremendous respect to Marilyn. There were many times Marilyn would say phrases like "child please" and "really." Marilyn loved the Lord with her whole heart. She would share the goodness of the Lord everywhere and with everyone. She would start up a conversation with a stranger, listen to their problems and turn around and give them encouraging words about God's goodness, scriptures to stand on and believe that God would turn that situation around. Marilyn leaves her family temporarily hoping to see them in heaven; Alex Austin, Jr., her father preceded her in death, Delzine Austin her mother. Darnell Austin, her son with their loving cat Buddy. Sister Brenda (Jeff) Woodard all of La Porte, IN and nephew Durell Marshall of Lafayette, IN. Great-nephew DeShawn Marshall of Michigan City. Brother Donald (Kassandra) Austin of Kingsford Heights, IN, Carlton (Meghan) Austin of Janesville, WI, Courtney Austin of Huntsville, AL, nephews. Her niece Crystal Austin of Kingsford Heights, IN.
