Marion Charles Amor, 93 of La Porte, IN, passed away peacefully Sunday April 23, 2023 at home with his family by his side.

He was born December 26, 1929 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Andrew Amor and Naomi (Diedrich) Amor.

On January 5, 1952, he married Barb (Merchant) Amor of 62 years, who preceded him in death.

Marion was a Jesus follower and was given a servant's heart. He carried this through-out his life as he loved and cared for many. He exemplified the truth that is much better to give than receive. A graduate of Mill Creek High School, he went on to serve in the United States Army.

Marion fought in the Korean War serving as Garage Foreman. Marion, was an unsung hero, as he was asked to repair a tank under fire. Honor Flight Chicago in 2017, Marion received his long-deserved honors and first "Welcome Home". Marion spent his career working for Sears in Indiana and Florida as a Repairman and Manager until he was 82 years old. He and Barb enjoyed 20 years in Florida before returning to La Porte. Marion loved nothing more than being with his grandchildren. He was described as a selfless, soft-spoken man. In April of 2014 at Oakwood Manor where he met Jeanie Miller and were joined with a commitment ceremony.

Marion is survived by his son, David (Alice) Amor of La Porte, IN; two grandchildren, Nick (Charity) Amor of Otterbein, IN; Andrea (Jeff) Overholt of Kouts, IN: Five great-grandchildren, Wyatt Amor, Faith Amor, Jesse Overholt, Anna Overholt and Ellie Overholt; three sisters, Ruth Baugh of La Porte, IN, Eileen (Bob) King of La Porte, IN, Shirley Pickney of La Porte, IN, Nephew Kevin (Jessica) Sheeler.

Arrangements are entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave, La Porte, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God in La Porte, IN, or Dunes Hospices of Valparaiso, IN.
