Mary Childress

Mrs. Mary H. Childress, age 78, of La Porte, Ind., died 6:20 PM Sunday, September 16, 2007, at her residence in La Porte, Ind. Mrs. Childress was a foreman at Gateway Industries for 27 years and retired in 1995. She was a member of LaPorte Missionary Church. She loved her dog Bo, she liked horses and liked riding horses and she loved to plant flowers. She was born December 3, 1928 in Elgin, Ill. to the late Lester James, Sr. and the late Pearl Halcom James. She is survived by her Daughter, Mrs. Rhonda Steve Lazo of La Porte, Ind.; Step-daughter-Debbie Childress of Tampa, Fla.; Two grandchildren; and a Sister-Barbara J.B. Bugg of La Porte, Ind. She is preceded in death by her Parents and a Brother Lester James Jr. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Wednesday, September 19, 2007. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 4:00 PM Wednesday, September 19, 2007, Rev. Carl Galloway officiating. Interment will be at Pinhook Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
