Mary Beth Tanner, 68, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away peacefully Saturday June 17, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.

 

She was born July 7, 1954 in Kankakee, Indiana, the daughter of Harold Swanson and Phyllis (Dale) Swanson.

 

A resident of the area since she was a young girl, Mary Beth graduated from La Porte High School. Following high school, Mary Beth obtained her Associates Degree from Brown Mackie College in Michigan City, Indiana. Mary Beth worked as a quality control inspector for Renolit, where she retired in 2007. After her retirement, she worked for a year at the South Bend Walmart. Mary Beth married the love of her life Jimmie, or "Bubba" as he was better known on June 13, 1992 in her hometown of Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Together, they were members of First Church of God. Mary Beth loved nothing more than to have a good time, especially if it was with her friends and family. She enjoyed going out with "tons" of friends and attending wine and painting classes. Mary Beth was never known to have met a stranger. It did not matter where she was, she was sure to make a new friend. Along with her many beautiful qualities, Mary Beth had a passion for Disney. She had many great trips there and collected LOTS of Disney memorabilia throughout her lifetime.

 

Mary Beth is survived by her husband, Jimmie; two sons, Brian (Anne) Spahn of Rolling Prairie, IN, Michael (Nicole) Spahn of Rusken, FL; eight grandchildren, Matt Spahn, Cody Eggleston, Tommy Eggleston, Lexi Eggleston, Taryn Spahn, Ethan Spahn, Bradlee Spahn, Luka Spahn; several great-grandchildren, including Dahlia, Harper, Phoenix and several nieces and nephews.

 

Mary Beth was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold "Buddy" Swanson, and sister, Twyla Clingenpeel.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. Services will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place.
