Matthew Hurst

Matthew Hurst, 69, of Michigan City, passed away on October 4, 2026. He was born on August 24, 1957 to Laurel & Bill Hurst.

Matt is survived by his 4 Daughters, Amanda (Garth) Bodie, Stephanie (Alejandro) Cruz, Krista (Charles) Anderson, and Michele (Jerry) Passmore, and his eight grandchildren, Lilliana, Makayla and Gareth Jr. Bodi; Luke Cruz; Madelyn and Makaela Gondeck, Matylda Passmore, Domanic and Daelon Wren; Madelyn and Makaela Gondeck, Matylda Passmore; and sister Lori (Rick) Cross, sister Phyllis Spitler, and nieces & nephews who all brought him great joy and pride.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Teresa Hurst; his parents, Laurel and Bill Hurst; his sister, Toni Hurst; and his beloved dog, Bitsy.

Matt was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a caring person with a big heart who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Matt had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke around. He was a jokester who could make people laugh and bring some fun into even the ordinary moments. His kindness, humor, caring and generous spirit are among the many things his family and friends will remember most about him.

Matt was a huge sports fan. He especially loved NASCAR, the Chicago Bears and enjoyed following sports of all kinds. Matt leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him dearly. Matt will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
