Melvin Schmidkunz, 63, of Mill Creek, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 at La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN.

He was born February 1, 1957 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Alden Schmidkunz and Mary (Shreve) Schmidkunz.

Melvin served his country for 4 years in the Navy. He held a passion for fishing, off-roading, and bowling as well as his family.

He was married to Patricia Ann (Doms) Schmidkunz who preceded in death October 12, 2004.

He is survived by his mother Mary Schmidkunz; two brothers, Williard (Jennifer) Schmidkunz of Niles, MI; and Robert (Brenda) Schmidkunz of La Porte, IN.

Melvin was preceded in death by his wife and his father.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. At this time there are no services, cremation has taken place.
