Michael Brawley, 63, of Kingsford Heights, Indiana, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born April 25, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Jyles Edward Brawley and Vera Jane (Stafford) Brawley.
Michael grew up in Chicago, moving to Arkansas in 1993 to be closer to his family. In 2001, he relocated to Kingsford Heights, where he spent the remainder of his life. Michael was a diesel mechanic who worked for Mack Trucks while in Chicago. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Kingsford Heights. Michael loved to tinker and could fix anything and everything, which made him the "go to" guy in the neighborhood. He enjoyed helping his neighbors and with his wonderful sense of humor, he was always making them laugh. Michael also loved camping with his family and hanging out with his daughters and grandchildren.
He is survived by his six daughters, Ashley (Patrick) Robinson of Florence, AL, Crystal (Jeff) Friel of Hamlet, IN, Joelene (Daniel) Allen of New Carlisle, IN, Amy Brawley of La Porte, IN, Brandy Wiltfong of South Bend, IN, Reba Brawley of AR; brother, Russell (Debbie) Brawley of Wirth, AR; sister, Kathy (Chris Brooks ) Brawley of Williford, AR; seven grandchildren, Dillon Wilson, Madisen Friel, Makenzie Friel, Maci Allen, Vera Allen, Keira Brawley, Colson Daugherty and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his loving wife and partner in life, Deborah Rogers, who died February 14, 2012; his parents, Jyles and Vera; brothers, Joseph A Brawley, Ronald H Brawley and Jyles Brawley, Jr.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. The family will host a Celebration of Michael's life on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. CST at the American Legion Post 434, 500 Grayton Rd., Kingsford Heights, IN. A private burial of cremated remains will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery at a later date.
