Nellie Arndt, 84, of Union Mills, Indiana, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Kingsford Heights, IN.

She was born November 6, 1936 in Kosciusko County, Indiana, the daughter of Alfred Moore and Irene Vivian (Shepherd) Moore.

Nellie was a member of the "Our Redeemer Lutheran Church" for many years. She also was a member of the Homemakers Extension Club since 1974 which became the Liberty Belles.  Nellie’s hobbies included, travel, reading, camping, and going to Hawaii. She was a world traveler and has been to many countries around the world. She was a social butterfly and just liked people. Nellie also collected thimbles with well over 500 in her collection.

On August 19, 1955, in the Tracy Lutheran Church, she married Larry L. Arndt who preceded in death August 23, 2007.

Nellie is survived by her daughter, Vicki (James) Mick of Kingsford Heights, IN; son, Duane (Terri) Arndt of Kingsford Heights, IN; brother, Ronald Moore of Michigan City, IN; sister, Janet Smeal of Sun City, AZ; six Grandchildren, Brandon Arndt, Anastasia Arndt, Krista Myers, Trenton  Arndt, Teresa Fraser, Elise Mick;

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gene Moore.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, January 15 from 4-7 PM.  A life celebration will be held Saturday, January 16 at the "Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 1600 S. Heaton St. Knox, IN at 11 AM with Rev. Eric Gawura officiating.  A funeral procession will proceed from the church past Nellie's home en route to Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet, IN for burial.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 1600 S. Heaton St. Knox, IN 46534.

Due to COVID-19 masks are required when attending services.
