The Reverend Nellie M. Vardaman, 74, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday August 7, 2020 at La Porte Hospital.

She was born July 26, 1946 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Vernon R and Eleanora (Vermilyer) Vardaman.

Nellie served as the Pastor of the First Spiritual Church of Prayer in South Bend for many years and continued as Pastor during Covid-19, streaming services on-line.  She was a member of the Moose Lodge Aux, La Porte VFW Aux, and The Independent Spiritual Association.

She had many friends and cousins who cared for her during her life, including Caregiver, John Hammond.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, August 14 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.  A Celebration of The Reverend Vardaman's Life will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, with The Reverend Phillip Falcone, Nellie's Associate Pastor, officiating.  Cremation will take place.

Due to executive order, masks must be worn when attending these ceremonies.
