Richard James Heisler

Richard James Heisler, 81, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Northwest Health-La Porte.

He was born February 16, 1940, in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Herbert Heisler and Stella (Tatarski) Heisler.

A lifelong resident of the area, Richard was a member of Queen of All Saints Church, Michigan City Fish & Game Club, Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, and the FOP Dunes Lodge 75 in Michigan City.  He retired after 36 years with Nipsco.

On November 9, 1962, in Michigan City, he married Clementene Pliske who preceded him in death in 2001.

He is survived by his son, Brett (Amanda Coleman) Heisler; two daughters: Lisa (Scott) Hamilton, and Carla (Tom) Lane; six grandchildren: Benjamin and Grace Hamilton, Jacob, Jordan, and Jared Kazmierczak, and McKenzie Coleman; sister-in-law Edith Heisler, sister-in-law Margaret (Eugene) Yagelski, and brother-in-law Ted Radtke.

Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Heisler.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. Private services and entombment will take place.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
