Mr. Robert D. Kirkham Sr., 73, of 301 Williams St., LaPorte, died Tuesday Feb. 10, 2004, at 9:57 p.m. at the LaPorte Hospital. He was born June 6, 1930, in LaPorte, IN. to Charles and Edith Freese Kirkham Sr., and has lived in the LaPorte area all of his life. Mr. Kirkham was a milkman for Lenick's Dairy for 22 years and retired in 1986. After retirement he worked for 14 years at Quick Bowling Lanes and Loren Pool Supply. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of LaPorte, Former member of the First Christian Church of LaPorte, he was an avid bowler, and in the Bowler's Hall of Fame, Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict. On June 5, 1954, in LaPorte, he married Mary P. Elzbieciak, who preceded in death September 4, 1995, and remarried on June 19, 2000, in Reno Nevada, to Pauline Orcutt who survives. Also surviving are one son, Robert D. Monika Kirkham Jr. of LaPorte; one daughter, Lori RonaldByrd of LaPorte; three brothers, Charles Betty Kirkham Jr., Terry Sharon Kirkham both of LaPorte, Wayne ShirleyKirkham of Rolling Prairie, IN.; two sisters, Arlene Oren Meyers and Phyllis Richardson both of LaPorte, IN.; two step-daughters, Paula Manns of Knox, IN. and Barbara Jeff Keene of LaPorte, IN.; one step-son, Ray Denise Woods of Fish Lake, IN.; two granddaughters, Trisha and Jessica Kirkham; two grandsons, Adam and Nathan Byrd; and eleven step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Kirkham; two brothers, Jack and Ronald Kirkham; and one sister, Dorothy Annabelle Kirkham. The funeral will be Friday Feb. 13, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Douglas Hadley officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery where a military service will be conducted by American Legion Post #83 of LaPorte.
