Mr. Robert E. Burdine Jr., 74, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday October 11, 2022 at home, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born December 19, 1947 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Robert E Burdine Sr. and Joan (Buss) Burdine-Graham.

A lifelong resident of the area, Robert served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and then began his career as a truck driver for Animal By-Products. After retirement, he drove the delivery truck for Indiana Deli, which he loved.  On May 19, 1973, Robert married the love of his life, Connie Ebeck.  Together, they loved traveling, their favorite spot being Niagara Falls, where they visited 4 times. Robert was an avid sports fan, not only of professional teams, like the Chicago Bears, Bulls and Cubs, but also his grandchildren’s' teams, like the Boone Grove Wolves peewee football and girls’ softball. He also enjoyed going with friends to The Four Winds Casino and playing the slots. And what he wouldn't give for a cheeseburger, especially one from Culver's. Robert was a man with a great sense of humor who loved life, having fun with his family and all the wonderful friends he and Connie met along the way.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of almost 50 years, Connie; his son, Andrew S Burdine of Crown Point, IN; daughter, Jodie M (Ryan) Oakes of La Porte, IN; brother, William (Vicki) Burdine of Forest Park, IL; three grandchildren, Colton R Burdine, Addison J Burdine and Ashley Oakes; brother-in-law’s, Kent (Jennifer) Ebeck of Cleveland, TN, Doug (Susie) Ebeck of Lancaster, CA and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, LuAnn Burdine-Garrett.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9:00 -11:00 a.m.   A Celebration of Robert's Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with interment to follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
