Sally Worthington

Sally Elaine Worthington, 86, of La Porte, passed early morning of Tuesday, October 29, 2025 at Northwest Health in La Porte, surrounded with love and her family.

Sally was born on August 12, 1939 in Stillwell, IN, to Paul Jackson and Mary Engelbrecht, remaining in the La Porte area her entire life.

On April 12, 1958, in Sauktown, IN, Sally married Asa Thomas Worthington, to whom she was married for 39 years. Until he preceded her in death in 1997.

Also preceding her in death are her parents; son, Tommy; one grandson, Asa “Bugs” Comeno; two sisters, Sandra and Carol Tidey.

Surviving are one son, Ted (Tammy) Worthington; two daughters, Tami (Brian) Frost and Tawnya (Gerald) Lukac, all of La Porte; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Cravens and Dixie (Mike) Clark of La Porte.

Sally was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where she loved singing as part of the choir. She once held the title Treasurer and looked forward to helping with all the cooking and baking for community events. She worked on the floor at Indiana Molding before joining the crew of the La Porte Herald Argus in multiple positions. Her favorite positions being in the fast-paced circulation room. Sally also relished the fall, never missing a chili cookoff or Notre Dame football game. The only thing she cherished more was her time spent with her family, especially the endless hours spoiling and shamelessly adoring all her grandchildren. Her love and support of family will forever go unmatched. Sally also enjoyed traveling and crocheting.

Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave, La Porte, IN where a visitation will be held Tuesday, November 4 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Wednesday, November 5 a visitation will be held from 10 am until service time at 11 am followed by a burial at Oak Grove Cemtery..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mill Creek Baptist Church.
