Hebron

Vickie Sue Daniel, 71, of Hebron, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana.

Born on June 14, 1954, in LaPorte, Vickie was the beloved daughter of the late Allen M. Dickson and Marjorie A. (McMahon) Dickson. She graduated with pride as a member of the LaPorte High School Class of 1972. During her formative years, she was deeply involved in 4-H, an experience that nurtured her lifelong passion for creativity, community, and service. While in high school, she was also an active member of Salem Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served as President of the United Methodist Youth Foundation, an early reflection of her natural leadership and the beginning of a legacy defined by dedication and compassion.

Following high school, Vickie worked as a secretary for Allis-Chalmers in LaPorte, where her diligence and warm spirit were evident to all who knew her. On Valentine’s Day in 1976, she married the love of her life, Mark Daniel, beginning a beautiful journey that would span fifty devoted years of marriage.

As a proud Army wife, Vickie embraced the adventure and sacrifice of military life, living in California, Texas, Hawaii, and Maryland as she faithfully followed Mark’s service in the United States Army. Eventually, they settled in Hebron, Indiana, calling it home.

When Mark answered the call to ministry in 1982, Vickie wholeheartedly embraced her role by his side. At Bethel Assembly of God Church, she became not only a pastor’s wife but a cornerstone of the church family. She served tirelessly—organizing, encouraging, teaching, and leading with grace. She found particular joy in co-leading Bible studies with her husband and sharing God’s Word in creative ways, including as a gifted puppeteer who delighted children and adults alike.

Vickie also taught kindergarten for several years at Bethel Christian Academy. She deeply loved her students and considered it a sacred privilege to teach them both academically and spiritually. Her gentle patience, kind smile, and unwavering faith left a lasting imprint on countless young hearts.

Creativity was woven into the fabric of Vickie’s life. An avid crafter and devoted scrapbooker, she treasured preserving memories for her family and friends. As a demonstrator for Stampin' Up!, she shared her passion for paper crafting, inspiring others through her artistry and fellowship.

Above all, Vickie was devoted to her family. She adored her beloved late dogs—Beau, Doxie, and Dixie—who brought her great joy and companionship over the years. Her love for her husband, siblings, extended family, church family, and friends was steadfast and unconditional.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mark Daniel; her sisters, Cathy Sale and Sandra McKinzie (Darrin); her brother, Dale Dickson (Debra); her brothers-in-law, Charles Daniel, William Daniel, Gerald Daniel, Clyde Daniel, and Paul Daniel; her sister-in-law, Julie Spence; and many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and creativity will live on in each of them.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 1:00 PM at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Visitation will take place at the funeral home Saturday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Salem Cemetery.

Vickie’s life was a testament to quiet strength, faithful service, and abiding love. Though she is now at rest, the light she shared so freely continues to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
