Mrs. Virginia M. Gourley, 80, of 31869 Chicago Trail, New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away Sunday may 16, 2004 at memorial Hospital of South Bend, Indiana. She had lived in the LaPorte area most of her life. Born on May 6, 1924, in Teegarden, Indiana, to Leo and Vera Metcalf Pearish who preceded. On May 23, 1941, in Knox, Indiana, she married Arlo L. Gouley, who preceded January 6, 1974. Mrs. Gourley worked at the New Prairie School System as a custodian for 32 years, retiring in 1989. She attended the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church and was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #9423 of Rolling Prairie. Surviving are one son; William L. Edith Gourley of Rolling Prairie, two daughters; Teresa Richard Stowers of Westville, Indiana and Connie Steve Mann of Hudson Lake, Indiana, two sisters; Opal Dave Niver of South Bend, Indiana, Betty Tom Essling of LaPorte, Indiana, two brothers; Paul Jonnie Pearish of Walkerton, Indiana, Jerry Sue Pearish of Koontz Lake, Indiana, eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, five step- great grandchildren and three step-great great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at the Haverstock Funeral Home, Wednesday May 19, 2004 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Royce Ford officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
