Warren Joseph Attar
September 17, 1938-November 25, 2025
Warren Joseph Attar, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at home, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born September 17, 1938 in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Albert and Sarah (Borane) Attar.
A lifelong resident of the area, Warren attended Elston High School and went on to earn his Bachelors of Business degree from Purdue NW. This led him to a lifetime career with State Farm Insurance, where he earned many awards and achievements. On May 14, 1960, Warren married the love of his life, Kay Johnson, in Michigan City, IN. Together they traveled throughout the world through State Farm, spent many hours in each other's arms, ballroom dancing, and raised their wonderful family. Warren was a member of Holy Family Parish, attending St. Peter's in La Porte. As a businessman, he was involved with Jr. Achievement, the JC's, Lions Club, Kiwanis and sponsored all facets of La Porte Little League baseball. Warren enjoyed golfing with the same group for 45 years, hunting and fishing, and working with his hands, building all types of things. He loved all sports, but especially was a Chicago Bears and Notre Dame football fan. His great passion was to be a "picker", finding extraordinary things in ordinary places. Mostly, though, Warren adored his family, treasuring the joyous time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who he deeply loved
Warren is survived by his two sons, Steven (Vickie) Attar of Noblesville, IN, Joe (Meredith) Attar; daughter, Mary (Tom) Attar-Gaines; brother, Keith (Sandy) Attar; seven grandchildren, Nicole and husband, Danielle, and Ashley Attar, Zachary (Sarah) Gaines, and Christopher Gaines, Shelby and Riley Attar; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Scarlett Gaines and one on the way; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Kay and his siblings, Virginia Wilkins, Andrew Attar, Phyllis Attar, Kathleen Hanna.
