William "Bill" F Dowell

Mr. William (Bill) F Dowell, 84, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday August 21, 2022 at Northwest Health-Porter .

He was born April 2, 1938 in Hardinsburg, Kentucky, the son of Virgil and Florence (Hook) Dowell.

Bill graduated from BCHS, Hardingsburg, KY in 1958.  He joined the Army in 1959 and served until 1962. Bill moved to La Porte in 1962.  He loved watching UK and March Madness Basketball, the Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown Races.  Bill Loved to bowl and watch his sons play sports.  Bill worked at Plimpton Press before going to work at Whirlpool, retiring from there after 30 years.

On October 20, 1962 Bill married Rebecca Lynn (Miller) Dowell who survives.

He is also survived by his two sons, Duane E. (Jovi) Dowell, Jeff (Emma) Dowell; daughter, Sheri L. Dunfee; two granddaughters, Mellissa Polson, Addison Dowell; three grandsons, Matt ( Maggie) Dunfee, Ricky Dunfee, Dalton Dowell; three great-grandchildren, Maddon Dunfee, Kyler Dunfee, Oliver Offutt

Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph  Dowell, Victor Dowell, Bernard Dowell, sisters, Rachel Campbell, Edna Brown, Louise Dowell, and Mabel Boatwright,

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, August 24, 2022, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, St. Jude, Beatsforbub.org or donors choice.
