LaPorte, IN

Wilma Jean Giesler, age 80, of LaPorte, IN, passed away Saturday on July 11, 2026.

Wilma was born on May 30, 1946, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Jim Noel and Edith Gourley. Wilma and her family moved to LaPorte, Indiana, on Memorial Day in 1953, where she embraced her responsibilities and family life from a young age. She was a proud graduate of LaPorte High School, Class of 1964. Wilma married the love of her life, William Giesler, in June of the same year. Together, they shared a remarkable 62 years of marriage.

Throughout her career, Wilma served as a dedicated clerical and ordering manager in the pool maintenance industry, notably with Loren’s Pool and Supply, and briefly worked for American Home Foods. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Wilma was known for her vivacious spirit and zest for life. In her younger years, she displayed a mischievous side that endeared her to family and friends alike.

Wilma possessed a passion for creativity and beauty, holding a cosmetologist license and working as an instructor. She took great pleasure in occasions to decorate for the holidays and enjoyed the simple joys of going to the drive-in. A lover of music and dancing, she was especially fond of rock and roll, and she delighted in preparing her famous biscuits and gravy for family gatherings.

Wilma's pride in her daughter, Michelle, as she pursued a career in nursing, was a testament to her nurturing spirit. She adored her grandchildren and cherished the moments spent with her great-grandchildren. Wilma's loving presence will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Wilma is survived by her beloved husband: William “Bill”; daughter: Michelle (Christian) Rose; grandchildren: Jacob (Sierra) Benner; Doug (Shareece) Benner, Hayley (Jacob) Sebasty, Lydia (Mike) Josslyn, and Rebecca Rose; great-grandchildren; sisters: Bobbie (Bob) Jensen and Mae (late Chris) Wheeler; brother: Scott Noel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents: Jim and Edith; brother: James Robert Noel; and dear friend and partner in crime: Sue Shaw.
