Yvonne McSurley, 83, of Kingsbury, Indiana, passed away peacefully Monday, July 10, 2023, in La Porte, IN with her family by her side.

She was born September 14, 1939 in Meally, Kentucky, the daughter of James Stambaugh and Lucille (Boggs) Stambaugh and was a coalminers daughter.

On May 29, 1959, after graduating high school, Yvonne married Charles McSurley who preceded her in death. Together, in 1961, Charles and Yvonne moved to Indiana. Yvonne enjoyed attending church regularly and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Until retirement, Yvonne worked as a finisher for Stelrema. Yvonne had many hobbies a few being; sewing, cooking, metal detecting, shopping, strolling through garage sales, and was known for her painting her home often. Yvonne found peace in gardening and feeding her birds and feeding hot dogs to her wild cat friend, Bob. Most importantly, Yvonne loved and cherished her time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

She is survived by her two daughters, Emma Renee (Jeff) Dowell of La Porte, IN, Sheila McSurley of La Porte, IN; two sons, Keith (Jennifer) McSurley of Hamlet, IN, David (Jen) McSurley of Rolling Prairie, IN; twelve grandchildren, Matthew, Leslie, Taylor, Cruz, Justin, Ashley, Dalton, Addison, Nathan, Madilyn, Miles, Micah; seven great-grandchildren, Elijah, Paxton, Brian, Lincoln, Nelsa, Nina, and Aiden.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, brother James Stambaugh and sister Betty Lou Shepard.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Kingsbury Cemetery with Pastor Monroe Jones officiating.
