Betty Shamp, 93, of Kingsbury, Indiana, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Miller's Health and Rehab in La Porte, IN.

She was born January 21, 1928 in Brookfield, Illinois, the daughter of William Hull and Cleo (Parker) Hull.

Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of La Porte where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a deacon of the church. Betty also was a Charter member of the Kingsbury Volunteer Dept Auxiliary, member of the Republican Women's Club 463 GOP where she was elected "Woman of the Year" in the National Republican Club. A member of Lady Elks, La Porte Hospital Auxiliary, Washington Township Girls 4-H leader and trustee of Kingsbury Cemetery Board. She was executive secretary of La Porte Construction Company for 12 years and had retired from La Porte County Public Library.

On April 17, 1949, in South Bend, she married Donald H Shamp who preceded in death April 22, 1998.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna J (Larry) Cheeks of Valparaiso, IN;

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Zachary Shamp, Daughter in Law, Mary Shamp.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN.  A graveside will be held at Kingsbury Cemetery at 11 AM Wednesday, August 18, at with Champlain Melissa Buche officiating.  Interment will follow at the Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, Indiana.
