David Leonard Ohime, 71, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday June 7, 2022 at his home in Mishawaka, IN.

He was born December 5, 1950 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Clarence F. Ohime and Marguerite (Weber) Ohime.

David went to Stillwell and upon his graduation in 1970 from La Porte High School, went in to the Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam War. David was known as a neat freak and a stay-at-home guy who liked to mow the grass. Many times, he would mow his neighbor’s grass just for the fun of it. David worked for 24 years in Maintenance at the Hickory Village Apartments in Mishawaka. He was avid learner about the history of Laporte County and enjoyed taking time to drive around the La Porte area.

He is survived by his sisters, Janice (David) Price of La Porte, and Darlene Ohime of Union Mills; and a brother, John (Sandra) Ohime of South Bend, IN;

David was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where private graveside services will take place at Pinhook Cemetery.
