Joe L. Cooper

Joe L. Cooper Jr. was born on November 20, 1969 in LaPorte, In. to Joe L. Cooper Sr. and Mae L. Cooper. He lived most of his life in LaPorte, attended school there, graduated from LaPorte High School, where he played Varsity basketball and then attended Ball State University.
Joe was a good student, staunch competitor, had personality plus, never met a stranger, a helper/comforter to anyone, sports’ enthusiast, with basketball being his favorite, and LeBron James his idol. Joe enjoyed watching his last basketball game, between the Suns and the Bucks, on July 6th.
Joe moved to Indianapolis and worked there for many years. He returned to LaPorte, with his daughter Sydnee, on July 4th. He passed away the morning of July 7th.
He was predeceased by: his mother Mae L. Cooper; father Joe L. Cooper Sr. his nephew Ieshon Tubbs, and his maternal/paternal grandparents. Joe is survived by and leaves to mourn his passing, His children: Blake, Anastasia, Emmerson & Sydnee Cooper, Aliayah, Atoria, and grandchildren; Siblings: Cynthia(Virgil) Smith, Wanda Ashford, Tim Cooper, Deanna O’Brien(Mountie), Terrance Cooper, Tania(Charles)Taylor, David Cooper, Loretta Cooper(Sister-In-Law), and a devoted/loving friend Carrie Starr; Nephews/Nieces: Marcie, Chaunce, Tony, Ayana, LaTonya, Erik, Tierra, Brittany, Angelina, Alexandria, Cassidy, Karina, Brandon, and Brienna; Aunts: Rev Margaret(Jerry) Hunt, Frances Smith, Bobbie Luckett, Ernestine Goldstein and a host of cousins and friends.
**Second Honorary Pallbearers**
Joe's services will be held at the Haverstock Funeral Home on July 17th.
**Viewing will be from 9-10am & Services from 10am-11am, with Rev Margaret Hunt officiating and interment at the Pine Lake Cemetery.
