Maxine P Eggert, 80, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Miller's Health and Rehab in La Porte, IN.

She was born April 8, 1940 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Samuel and Olive (Proud) Cady.

On December 5, 1959, in La Porte, she married Norman Eggert, who preceded her in death November 18, 2016.

A lifelong resident of the area, Maxine graduated from Rolling Prairie High School and worked for Modine's, La Porte Transit and St Andrews Products. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in La Porte as well as a member of the Polish Falcons of La Porte.  Maxine and her late husband Norman enjoyed traveling together, their favorite trip being their Alaskan cruise when they retired. But her greatest joy was her family, especially those grandchildren, whose many school events she religiously attended.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Kathy Johnson of La Porte, IN; her son, Gene (Michelle) Eggert of La Porte, IN; six grandchildren, Melissa (Donald) Graham, Dustin (Courtney) Eggert, Daniel Eggert-Brandon Strawn, Mathew Johnson, Megan Eggert, Elizabeth (Russell) Spaid; four great-grandchildren, Austin Graham, Timmy Graham, Ari Graham, and William Spaid.

Along with her husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Louie Cady.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.  A Celebration of Maxine's Life will follow at 6:00 p.m., with Pastor Michael Johnson, Crossroads Christian Center, officiating. Interment will take place Saturday January 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery. Anyone attending these events is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Maxine's honor to the Greater Indiana Alzheimer’s Dementia Association, 8679 Connecticut St. Suite D, Merrillville, IN 46410.
