Patricia Kay Fillmore, 67, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday February 7, 2021 at Northwest Health-La Porte.

Kay was born June 6, 1953 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Arthur Ladwig and Patricia Swearingen Ladwig Hardesty.

A lifelong resident of the area, Kay worked at various jobs, including doing inventory for Hooks Drug store and Regis for many years, Parents and Friends for 10 years and finally as the house manager at Dungarvin for 22 years. She attended church and school at St Paul's Lutheran in Michigan City, then First United Methodist in La Porte. Kay was a volunteer for the small animal shelter in La Porte. She loved reading and going to her book club, enjoyed the lakes and the beach, adored her cats, Smokey and Peanut, and collected owls, penguins and teddy bears. Her passion was her family and she and her sisters always planned a yearly shopping trip.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Angela (Jason) Bush of La Porte, IN; two sons, Eric Fillmore of La Porte, Zachary Fillmore of La Porte; two brothers, Garry Ladwig of La Porte, Douglas Ladwig of Chesterton; two step-brothers, Charles Wayne (Linda) Hardesty of Michigan City, William Anthony(Ruth) Hardesty of Michigan City; two sisters, Debra (Ron) Linn of GA, Michelle Bair of Michigan City; step-sister, Linda(James) Lampert of MI; four grandchildren, Haley, Jordan, Austin, Kaylin and many nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, William Hardesty; step-sister, June Christina Skibinski; sister-in-law, Lisa Ladwig.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN, where the family will receive friends for a visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday February 15, 2021.  The family will have a private funeral service, with Pastor Bob Vale, First United Methodist Church, officiating and have selected cremation after the service.  Anyone attending these events are required to wear masks and practice social distancing as mandated by Indiana Executive Order.

Memorial donations may be made in Kay's honor to either La Porte Small Animal Shelter, 2855 Indiana 2, La Porte 46350 or Social and Learning Institute, 201 E. Garfield St., Michigan City 46360.
